As it has been reported by the Russian news agency Itar-tass, the population of Siberia is about to increase by 2 million until 2030. It is being reported that the depopulation of the Far East Federal District (Siberia) is slowing down and soon the trend will be reversed. It is supposed to happen thanks to economic and social development of the region.
It would be all normal and ordinary if it was not for the fact that Siberia is known for being the place where prisoners are sent (especially in political cases). Of course it’s still more funny and laughter-inducing than it makes you fear anything. In some eastern European languages “going to Siberia” is already a phrase meaning “being taken away” or “locked up”.
